This is not my Grandmother’s Crazy Quilt

I love crazy quilts, and someday I want to learn all those hand stitches. But – I am a machine girl. I need instant gratification. I made this crazy quilt as a class sample. I used Moda Marbles, they give it a soft suede look.

It is fun to combine embroidery and quilting. I used decorative stitches to embellish the individual seams in each block. I embroidered Steam Punk designs and I have a thing for the Eiffel Tower.

Not My Grandmother’s Crazy Quilt

A Blog by Ony other Name

The name of my blog started with a quilt I made in 2009 that I named If These Threads Could Talk

This crazy quilt is made of Dupioni silk and has my family tree embroidered on it.  My grandparents names are embroidered on the top border.  They had 5 children whose names and birthdays of them and their spouses are embroidered in the first row of blocks.  Below them their children’s names and birthdays are embroidered.  Great Grandparents information is embroidered down the side borders.  My kids may not want to listen to me talk about family history but I know they won’t throw out a quilt.  Someday they will be glad they have access to this information.
