Southern Hospitality Preview

I’m working on a new class sample using the Square/Squared tool by Studio 180 Design & Deb Tucker. I’m using the Southern Hospitality companion pattern. I thought I would give you a preview. I love this pattern because it goes together in way you don’t expect. It is easy when you use good tools such as the Square/Squared tool.

On my design wall is the center of the quilt. This quilt is put together with several simple units.

These are called “Little Houses”. They are used in the inner border and to make the star points.

These are large square/squared units that will be cornerstones in the migrating geese border.

Now, I did say this quilt was easy. Migrating geese are not difficult but, this is a precision technique, so you need to use your best skills for a great result. I messed up! I cut geese squares 1/4″ too large and then tried to compensate by cutting the geese background larger. Now they did make nice migrating geese, but they are larger than what is required for a pieced border. So, back to the fabric store to get more fabric to fix my boo boo!

When I get the top done I post another picture!
