Have You Ever Glued on Your Quilt Binding

Are you a quilt binding purist, or do you look for short cuts when it comes to attaching quilt binding? I hate to sew on binding. Both Sharon Schamber and Deb Karasik have a method for using Elmer’s School Glue for attaching binding. So I decided to attach the binding to Starry Starry Night totally by machine. It came out pretty good, but there is always room for improvement. This quilt is a class sample, if it were for a quilt show I would probably sew it on by hand.

Fold over and press using the steam setting. It will hold the strip in place.

Lay another 15 or so inches of a very thin line of glue and continue to fold over and press

See how wonderfully it works. Continue around the quilt until all the sides are glued down.

Make Your Own Gift Bags for Quilts

I am re-posting this because I forgot tp PDF the document before I posted it. When I give a quilt as a gift, I make my own gift bag. The lesson below makes a bag approximately 18″ x 18″ with a 4 ” gusset. You can adjust the size you want buy cutting your fabric larger or smaller, just remember to cut the lining and the outer fabric the same size. I love including a tote or making custom embroidered totes as the gift itself.

A Design Wall for a Small House

I have a small house, but I was determined to have a design wall. I did not have a wall that could be dedicated for a design wall. The instructions below will make a screen that measures 6 feet by 7 feet. It folds up to fit behind a door. The instructions are for 2 design walls so if 2 people go in together they save money and materials.
