Pussy Footing Around
I finished my niece Brandy’s quilt. She loves cats, I call this one “Pussy Footing Around”. I hope she likes it. I like to make a gift bag to go along with the quilt. I just need to sew on the label and I’m off to get it mailed.
Another Great Class
Spider Tracks
I finished mt spider web quilt and it is now hanging in What’s Your Stitch N Stuff Quilt Shop in Virginia Beach as a class sample. I machine embroidered orange spider webs in the squares between the webb blocks, amd more Halloween embroidery on the borders. I used Edgar Allen Poe fabric called “Nevermore” for the backing. I am Hosting a Spider Web Quilt Workshop November 3rd. So if you are in the area sign up and we will create your Spider Web Quilt.
Playing Catch Up before Hurricane Sandy Gets here
Being sick put a crimp in mt quilting time. Hurricane Sandy is bearing down and all I can think about is getting another project finished. Well, today I did finish quilting the Halloween spider web quilt that I have decided to call Spider Tracks. The backing is Edgar Allen Poe fabric called “Nevermore”. The quilt is in the wash right now. Tomorrow I will take a finished picture and show the label and backing.
Inside the Twister
Made from Wizard of Oz fabric in sepia tones. The blocks in this quilt are made from one piece of fabric. Each block is a kaleidoscope of equilateral triangles. It is designed to look as if the twister is in the middles of the fabric scooping up Dorothy, Toto, Miss Gulch and Professor Marvel. All materials are new and 100% cotton. I designed this quilt, made it and quilted it. It has been washed and measures 72″ x 78″.
Another Great Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star Class
Yesterday at Sew EZ in Portsmouth we had another great class on how to make a Lemoyne star – with out “Y” seams!!! I love this method. It was developed by Deb Tucker www.studio180design.net . It is so much fun. Thanks to Mary & Mary, Nancy & Sandy. It was a good class.
Inside the Twister Locked and Loaded
I’m still trying to catch up from teaching all last weekend, but in between embroidering quilt labels, etc. I loaded Inside the Twister on the quilt frame. So I would quilt a row, then run to the embroidery room and check on the embroidery machine. Status: Inside the twister is quilted, waiting for binding, 3 quilt labels are done and half way through a job for my friend Jennifer.
Tomorrow I’m off to teach the Lemoyne star class at Sew E-Z in Portsmouth.
Oak Ridge Stars Class
It was Deb Tucker Day in my class room this weekend. Today was another great class with great students. I worked their butts off, but they were up for the challenge. This is no quilt for the faint of heart. It’s not that it is hard, but there is a lot of cutting. I love Deb Tucker patterns because she is so thorough and detailed always reminding us which direct to press our seams. It was a great weekend of classes at the Hampton convention Center, sponsored by Bella Fabrics in Carollton, VA.
Thank you to Sharon, Arlene, Trishia, Robin, Suzanne and Leanne. I enjoyed you all very much.
Lemoyne Star Class in Hampton
I just got home from teaching a Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star class in Hampton, VA. I have to say the students: Arlene, Susan, Suzanne, Leanne, Mavis, & Lisa – you guys are rock stars. We had a great class. They learned something new and had fun doing it. If you haven’t tried Deb Tucker’s Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler, you don’t know what you are missing.
Going back tomorrow to teach the Oak Ridge Stars Pattern.
